Self Image: Activity 3

Self Image: Activity 3

There are many outside forces that influence the way we behave, the way we dress, and out overall image and identity.

One thing that influences the way I dress is tumblr, I follow many fashion and clothing blogs and often find outfit inspiration from them.

As far as behavior and school go, my parents are my main motivators. They punish me for acting out or not achieving good grades, and influence me to work hard and take challenging classes in school. They also pressure me on choosing a career in math, science, or engineering, because they are both engineers. My dad even made a list for me of 10 careers I have to choose from, and is not letting me pursue anything else.
I also try to wear not too much makeup, because I think natural looks better; and Leighton Meester is my influence for that. She is gorgeous either way, but no makeup is a much better look.

"Attractive"

1. Slender face, with prominent cheekbones- The photographer uses a strong light at the center of her face to highlight the high points of her face like her slender nose, and darken the other parts of her face, to give it a contoured effect, a feat many women try to recreate with makeup; they even sell conturing sticks in makeup stores.

2. Uniquely colored eyes- Megan Fox's beautiful eyes are enhanced by her makeup and the white toned lighting used by the photographer.

                                                                                     1. Glowing skin- The photographer used a     golden or yellow toned lighting to bring out Jennifer Aniston's tan skin and blonde hair.

2. Nice eyebrows- Her eyebrows are well shaped and stand out against her skin tone and the lighting used to accentuate it.

3. Full lips- The fullness of her lips are complimented by her lip color and the extra golden lighting.

1. Sharp facial structure- The photographer effectively used black and white photography to increase simplicity and focus all attention to Dave Franco's face. I think the photo wouldn't look as good if it was in color.

2. Imperfectly perfect skin- The photographer also made the picture very clear and detailed to capture all of his imperfections which just make him more appealing.

3. Soft hair- The photographer also takes advantage of using extreme closeup to make the viewer notice every part of his face, including his vert soft looking hair.

Self Image: Activity 1

1. Age/generation- I'm 16 years old, which means having the freedom of having my license, but I'm not yet allowed to do other things like see R rated movies or vote; although I feel I'm mature for my age and generation.

2. Gender- I'm female, and that means I could be treated as less competent or able to do things, although I do my best to prove those attitudes wrong.
3. Race- I'm white with mainly German heritage. My family follows some German traditions such as making foods from my moms childhood and putting out traditional ornaments during Christmas. My grandfather came to the U.S. when he was a young adult so my mother speaks some German and I write to my cousins in Germany every few months.
4. Religion- My family's religion is Lutheran and that's what I have chosen to believe in. I was confirmed at Mountain View Lutheran church in 8th grade, and I volunteer at Bible School every summer. However I probably attend church only 5 times a year.
5. Class or caste- My family has always been able to provide for me and the things I want to do, and we would be classified as middle class.
6. Personality- I'm a shy or introverted person around people I don;t know or like, but always try to be nice. However with the people I know I feel comfortable being myself and am loud and extroverted.
7. Intelligence- One thing I am very proud of are my achievements in school, I have lettered in academics all my years in Mountain Pointe, am in National Honors Society and National Art Honors Society, and take advanced classes in school.
8. Political Persuasion- My parents are republicans, and I support the economic beliefs of conservatives, but the social beliefs of democrats/liberals. So I myself am not really either, and would classify myself as independent.

Landscape: Activity 5: Blog

Landscape: Activity 5: Blog

In this landscape I took in Payson, Arizona, I used the forrest trail sign in the foreground to create a sense of depth in the background of the trees and mountains. I was trying to create an adventurous theme in this photo, like the sign points toward discovery and excitement in whatever lies beyond. I think the viewer will interpret it this way, or get a sense that the forest and wilderness is larger than life and full of possibilities.

Landscape: Activity 4: Blog

Landscape: Activity 4: Blog

1. Open Landscape
I took this photo of the Empire State building in New York city over fall break. Because the building occupies hardly any of the sky, it can be classified as an open landscape. Along with the brighter, warmer colors I tried to edit into this photo, the open sky might give the photograph a more optimistic and colorful theme to an otherwise gray and industrial area of New York.

2. Closed Landscape
I also took this picture in New York city of the famous Exchange and Broadway streets. Unlike the open landscape photo, no sky is visible, giving off the opposite effect. The theme is darker and the man made structures become more evident.

Landscape: Activity 3: Blog

Landscape: Activity 3: Blog

These two artistic representations of the skyline of Paris featuring the Eiffel Tower, although of the same subject matter, are very different. The top image is a painting, while the lower is a photograph. The painting features more colors, like the autumn trees and the almost golden brown siding of the building reflect warmer tones which are absent among the whites in he photograph. The clouds in the painting are also less realistic, adding an almost surreal quality to the image. So, the top image might appeal to the likes of a more idealist individual, while a realist like myself prefer the bottom image, and think it is much more appealing. In terms of a medium, the painting could be used to express more emotions as it is difficult to edit the aspects of a landscape (note that the photograph does not have any editing work done to it at all.)

This photo of the U.S./Mexico border shows a sharp contrast between the lifestyles of the two countries. Mexico (on the right) has highly overcrowded areas and much poverty, while the U.S. (left) has a lot of agricultural development and resources, with much less buildings and roads.

Industrial landscape - chemical production complex Stock Photo - 13512869

This picture of chemical production factories could symbolize the environmental issues that plague our generation and the future ones to come. I believe one could see this with a deeper symbolic meaning or just as a simple landscape of several factories.
